Valentine’s Day looks vastly different with no restaurants open, but you can still treat your other half to something special.

Two words; Steak. Night.

Here at Dundarave, we do believe that making food for your other half speaks volumes in love language and that steak is always the best option – no matter how you take it!

Our dedicated chef has created two irresistible recipes for sauces that will complement your steaks so well, you’ll definitely earn points!

Triple Peppercorn Sauce

Ingredients

5g butter
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tsp triple peppercorn, slightly crushed
3 tbsp brandy
100ml red wine
200ml beef stock
4 tbsp double cream

Method

  1. Place butter in large, high-sided frying pan and fry onion and peppercorns on a medium heat for five minutes or until soft.
  2. Add brandy and cook until liquid has absorbed.
  3. Pour in wine, turn up the heat and boil rapidly until liquid is half reduced.
  4. Add stock and boil for 5 minutes, reducing liquid again.
  5. Stir the cream in and allow to thicken slightly.
  6. Season before serving.

Whiskey Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

1 beef stock cube
1 tsp butter
1 onion, finely chopped
200g chestnut mushrooms, sliced
200g crème fraiche
1 tbsp Whiskey

Method

  1. Add the stock cube to 50ml boiling water.
  2. Fry the onions until soft, then add the mushrooms and cook for five minutes or until coloured.
  3. Pour in whiskey, then add stock and let liquid reduce slightly.
  4. Fold in crème fraiche and bring to a simmer.
  5. Season before serving.
